David Hein is a principal pavement engineer and vice president of transportation with Applied Research Associates (ARA), a science and engineering firm specializing in practical solutions to everyday problems, and is responsible for the operation of six ARA office locations in North America.
Hein has worked extensively in pavement design, evaluation, and management for both asphalt and concrete pavements, and has been actively involved with organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers, Trasportation Research Board, Transportation Association of Canada, and is the past chair of the World Road Association Pavements Committee. Hein is also the current chair of the new ASCE T&DI Permeable Pavement Structural Design Committee.
Hein has completed training courses for over 5,000 participants across North America, including several for Forester University (listed below).
