Compost BMP Design

Join The Sustainable Site author, Britt Faucette, PhD, CPESC, LEED AP for an introduction to green building and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating and certification program for New Construction (NC), Version 3.0, and how compost-based BMPs fit into this growing program. This Webcast will discuss different compost-based BMPS; applicable LEED credit categories; supporting research, specifications and design tools; and real-world application in a LEED Platinum project.

Incorporating over ten years of scientific, peer reviewed research from North American research institutions on compost used in stormwater management applications this presentation will provide an overview of compost-based BMPs and how they are used in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating and certification program. Key learning objectives for this Webcast include: an introduction to green building and the LEED certification program; understanding of compost-based BMPs; summary of relevant research, performance, and design tools for compost BMPs in green building applications; and review of a case study using compost-based BMPs in a LEED project. At the conclusion of the Webcast participants should be able to understand and identify relevant compost-based BMPs, how they fit into LEED green building programs, and the technical tools that can aid them in professional design and implementation.

Learning Objectives
Webcast attendees can expect the discussion and education of the following learning objectives:
