Paradigm Releases New Version of Advanced Structural Modeling Software
GeoSec® 2D Version 5.2 offers advanced capabilities and interoperability in E&P projects
Paradigm™ (www.pdgm.com), a leading provider of enterprise software solutions to the global oil and natural gas exploration and production (E&P) industry, announces the global release of Paradigm GeoSec® 2D Version 5.2, a new edition of its industry-leading geologic interpretation software for advanced structural analysis, cross-section construction and forward modeling. The announcement was made at the 2008 American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Annual Convention and Exhibition in San Antonio, Texas. The new version improves accuracy and efficiency and minimizes risk in E&P projects through advanced interoperability, new structural tools, and enhanced usability.
Paradigm GeoSec 2D Version 5.2 builds on the proven ability of the GeoSec 2D software suite, a multifaceted structural analysis solution that provides critical information about the geometry and structural history of the subsurface to assist geoscientists in the search for new oil and gas sources. The software incorporates capabilities such as geologic section construction, balancing, restoration, animation tools, and embedded gridding and contouring. These functions work together to create models that incorporate structural features resulting from deformation of the subsurface.
Paradigm GeoSec 2D Version 5.2 is now compatible with the Epos database and infrastructure, providing interoperability and full integration between Paradigm products as well as seamless connectivity to third party databases. Offering real-time data transfer, the application allows users to access and exchange information for quick kinematic validation of seismic interpretations.
"Geologists have been using GeoSec software for over 15 years for interpretation of tectonic environments in hydrocarbon exploration projects throughout the world," said Robert Johnson, Paradigm’s GeoSec product manager. “Version 5.2 enhances proven software and allows geoscientists to quickly and accurately incorporate structural geological analysis into E&P workflows, enabling faster and more confident decision making.”
“The release of Paradigm GeoSec 2D Version 5.2 is another example of our commitment to provide interpreters access to both pragmatic and advanced structural tools and methods to validate their subsurface interpretations and models,” said Duane Dopkin, Paradigm’s senior vice president of technology. “This new version will provide geoscientists and drilling engineers more confidence in qualifying the structural framework for prospect ranking, trap assessment, and determining drilling locations.”
